2 Days - 2 Separate Clinics hosted by Seattle Flying Dragons!!!
Clinic instruction will be provided by Connie Flesuras of Wasabi Paddling Club, Portland. Two days - separate clinics for Paddling and Steers/Drummers. The schedule & loaction information for these two clinics is available as an attachment below.
Saturday, May 6th - 8am / Paddling Clinic -- Good for beginner - intermediate paddlers.
Clinic Goals:
- Review stroke mechanics
- On-water sessions for drills, individual hands-on feedback
- Video analysis of individual technique
- Off-water training
- Injury prevention
- Safety
Sunday, May 7th - 8am / Steers/Drummers Clinic -- Good for beginner – intermediate drummers / steers.
Clinic Goals:
- Identify the characteristics of an effective helm and drummer
- Define the role of the helm and drummer/caller in races, practices, and team management
- Explore the helm/drummer team
- Become familiar with rules governing dragon boat helms and drummers during local, national, and international race
We have some people who are signed up for these two clinics on Team Cowboy (May 6th paddling clinic and May 7th calling/steering clinic).
RSVP:
Please sign up and be fully committed by April 19. The participants will be forwarded to the organizers. Once we know the final list of attendees, an electronic form will be sent to submit their name, approx. weight, experience level, and usual position in the boat (front, middle, back) of the participants for each club. Benching the boats will be done beforehand so that we are not wasting time figuring out benching on the dock.
PAYMENT:
Each day is it's own clinic, each day has a $50* fee. Payments will be collected by KDBA and can be made by way of Payal through the website or billed by Treasurer, cash (in marked envelope), check, credit card at practice, or via Zelle payment sent to kdba.treasurer@gmail.com.
WAIVER:
ALL participants will need to sign SFD club’s Guest Waiver before getting in the boat, this is an electronic form. Waiver for training: https://www.seattleflyingdragons.org/waiver.html
LOCATIONS:
Please note that the clinics will start at the conference room, in the first floor lobby of 1505 Westlake Avenue North, Seattle, WA 98109. There is free weekend parking in the lots across the street along Westlake Ave N. On-water segments will be Seattle Flying dock at Kenmore Air at 950 Westlake Ave N, Seattle, WA 98109. These locations are also available in the attachment below.
